Training
Training in the distinctive IPM methodology is available throughout the year in Barking.

Teaching methods and the mathematical progression used by IPM.
These courses are repeated on a termly basis and are suitable for teachers in all year groups. We regard the courses as essential for anyone using the IPM scheme. Training lasts for a whole day.

Course arrangements
To book a place on an IPM course, please telephone Mary Looney on 020 8270 4896. Mary will take your name and school details and will invoice the school for the cost.

Food and drink:
Lunch is not provided, but drinks are available throughout the day. Lunch may be purchased at the Centre.

Transport:
Barking Station (tube and mainline) is about ten minutes from the Westbury Centre on foot. There is ample parking at the Westbury Centre. If you do not know how to find the Westbury Centre, please click here for a map.

Course tutors: Members of the IPM team
Price: £100 plus VAT per day / £50 plus VAT per half day.

The course covers essential elements of interactive whole class teaching used by the IPM project. It includes advice on classroom arrangements, involving pupils in extended classroom dialogue, pupil demonstration, questioning, catering for higher and lower attainers, etc. The final session gives an introduction to elements of the mathematical progress, showing how early work is built on in the later years of the project.
Please note: Half day course does not include detailed information on the mathematical progression.
