IPM - Improving Primary Mathematics

Improving Primary Mathematics (IPM) is a unique mathematics scheme for primary schools. It has been tried and tested by hundreds of classroom teachers and improved in the light of their comments.

We believe that IPM is the only modern scheme to have been developed by teachers for teachers and to have been trialled systematically before publication.

IPM provides detailed lesson-by-lesson teaching materials for pupils in each group from Year 1 to Year 6. It provides full guidance on how to achieve successful interactive whole-class teaching in mathematics. Pupil materials and resources are included.

During its development, IPM attracted wide publicity with government ministers, including the then Prime Minister, HMI and other experts commenting favourably on the quality of the teaching materials and the success of the scheme in raising standards. The first edition was formally identified as part of the National Numeracy Strategy.

IPM has been extensively revised to bring it fully in line with the new Framework. New IPM is being published on CD to provide flexible resources for the full primary mathematics curriculum.
